| Our Story |

| Mt. Konocti Growers was born on May 10, 1926 when
various pear growers in Lake County CA formed Lake County
Fruit Exchange as an Agricultural Cooperative
Corporation. From that day forward Lake County Fruit
Exchange operated as one of the major
processor/packer/marketers for the Lake and Mendocino
County Pear industry. |
| In 1976, Lake County Fruit Exchange merged with Lake
County Growers, Inc. Lake Cove Growers, Inc. where they
processed and marketed both walnuts and almonds as well
as about 5,000 tons of pears per year bringing the
combined pear processing tonnage for the newly formed
corporations up to 22,000 tons per year. The walnut and
almond operations were eventually closed down and the
company continued on as a pear processing and marketing
operation. |
| Today we are known as Mt. Konocti Growers,
Inc. We are making wine and bottling our new
varieties under the branding of MKG Winery. |
